Laurie Turnbull Executive Chairman
Mr Turnbull was appointed Executive Chairman in November 2006, and has extensive
experience in a senior capacity in both public and private companies. First appointed
to a fully listed plc board when he was 29 he has enjoyed a 30 year career as a
CEO and senior executive. For 15 years he was CEO of Texas Group plc where he was
active in numerous acquisitions and flotations. This Manchester based venture capital
company was instrumental in the formation and development of Source BioScience in
the years prior to its flotation. He is Non-Executive Chairman of CBG Group plc,
the Aim quoted insurance broker and financial services company and Non-Executive
Chairman of Texas Holdings Ltd.
Dr Nick Ash Managing Director
Dr Ash is the Managing Director of Source BioScience plc, taking up the position
in February 2007, having previously been the group’s Chief Financial Officer. A
Chartered Accountant with a PhD in Mycology from Sheffield University, Nick has
reshaped the group by refocusing activities in the UK, playing a key role in the
disposal of the group’s Dubai operations in 2006. Nick has also overseen the acquisition
of Geneservice Limited (July 2007) and Autogen Bioclear UK Limited (March 2008)
thereby acquiring the technologies and expertise necessary for the group's current
and planned range of services. He worked at Eastern Airways and spent nine years
with KPMG before joining Source BioScience in 2005.
Dr Nick Leaves Operations Director
Dr Leaves is the Operations Director of the Company having held a similar position
at Geneservice Limited prior to their acquisition by Source BioScience in July 2007.
He joined the Source BioScience Board in June 2008. Before Geneservice, Nick worked
for four years as DNA sequencing production manager on high-throughput projects
for the Medical Research Council, and worked for five years on Asthma and Eczema
gene hunting projects at Oxford University. Prior to this, Nick qualified as a microbiologist
and worked in the NHS completing a PhD in 1995 on the molecular methods used to
characterise meningitis outbreaks whilst also considering the impact of the HIB
meningitis vaccine that has now been introduced UK-wide.
Non-executive Directors
Dr Sue Foden Senior Non-Executive Director
and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee
Dr Foden joined the Board in September 2003 following three years with the healthcare
Venture Capital firm Merlin Biosciences and 13 years as CEO of Cancer Research Technology.
Sue is also a non executive director of Vectura plc, Cellcentric Ltd and of the
seed funds Rainbow and Cascade Ltd. She is a member of a number of Advisory Boards
including Elara GmbH, CD3 (the joint initiative between EIF and the University of
Leuven) and the University of Manchester Premier Fund and is a Trustee of the Institute
of Cancer Research. She has an MA and DPhil from the University of Oxford.
Robin Slinger Non-Executive Director and
Chairman of the Audit Committee
Mr Slinger joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in January 2005. Until June
2004 Mr Slinger had worked for 34 years at the Royal Bank of Scotland plc, as a
Director of Corporate Banking. He had specific responsibilities for corporate clients
active within the London, New York and Amsterdam exchanges, gaining broad experience
in public listings, placements and general corporate activity in acquisitions and
disposals. Mr Slinger is an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Bankers and
is also a Non-Executive Director of CBG Group plc, which is an insurance company
quoted on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange, and a
Director of Texas Group plc.
