Coronavirus (COVID-19) Testing

We are now providing a COVID-19 testing service from our highly accredited ISO:15189:2012 laboratories in Nottingham. As a privately run business, we wanted to be part of the initiative to beat COVID-19 and with years of experience of providing molecular diagnostics tests to public and privately funded institutions and businesses, we are keen to help get the country moving again.

Our testing service is to support and work in parallel to the Government's monumental task of providing up 200,000 tests per day. We believe that we can add significant value to this goal with the capability to run up to 5,000 tests per day.

Working outside of the NHS supply chain, we offer a RT-PCR testing capability which identifies if your staff have a current COVID-19 infection. Using nasal and oral swabs, which can be provided upon request, this service now gives you the opportunity to get your staff back to work.

Working with us on a regular testing program of your self-isolating staff, or those who are showing symptoms or even your asymptomatic staff members, Source BioScience is your perfect partner for short or long term testing.

What is the COVID-19 test at Source BioScience?

Our COVID-19 test is a RT-PCR test that relies on PCR detection of the Coronavirus genome from oral or nasal swabs which detects the SARS-CoV-2 ORF1ab and N genes.

Who is the COVID-19 test for?

Our testing service allows companies to test their staff members and identify if they have the COVID-19 virus.

How does the test work?

Source BioScience can send you a swab kit and organise collection of samples using our logistics partner. Once the swabs are received by our laboratory staff where receipt of the sample is recorded on to our laboratory information tracking system (LIMS) the samples are handled in an appropriate safety cabinet, where they are unpacked, and the sample treated to inactivate any live virus.

The sample is then processed using an automated extraction platform to isolate any RNA from the SARS-Cov-2 virus and a reverse-transcription, real-time PCR assay is then used to detect the presence of the viral RNA genome.

Results are then released to our secure online portal to be downloaded.
